The FOR-TE Project was established in 2019 with the objective of creating an employment opportunity for people with cognitive disabilities: it is the first delivery service in Italy made entirely by people with mental disabilities.
The job placement project undoubtedly has an important social impact and at the same time allows delivery clients to optimize time and cost.
The Esprinet Group has perfectly integrated the social FOR-TE project into its core business: it is the best demonstration of how sustainability is no longer just an ancillary activity, but a true source of value creation.
In its fourth year of operation, the For-te project employs 18 people: 10 work at the Esprivillage in Cesano Boscone and 8 at the Esprivillage in Cinisello Balsamo, two of the 17 Esprinet stores located throughout Italy.
How does the For-Te project work
The ten young people who are part of the For-Te initiative are involved every day in delivering containable products inside a backpack. They carry out their delivery activities by moving on foot or via public transportation.
Customers who purchase small products at Esprivillage in Cesano Boscone and Cinisello Balsamo, are offered the free "For-Te" service with the possibility of delivery to the end user as well.
Every morning, the Esprivillage staff prepare the orders for the children, who in the early afternoon load the rucksacks and receive instructions for delivery, under the coordination and supervision of a person in charge of the non-profit association"Gruppo L'Impronta", who tracks the delivery in real time.
The project also involved the manufacturers Tucano, Jabra and Nilox, who recognized its socio-economic validity by providing some of the technical equipment used.
The For-Te project made 1,082 deliveries in 2019 and 731 in 2020.
For-Te even during the health emergency
The health emergency and stringent safety regulations led Esprinet Group to rethink the organization of the For-Te project.
To protect the children involved in deliveries, comply with current regulations and extend the service, deliveries were partially reconverted. The delivery of Esprinet technology products continued using vans owned by the cooperative to avoid the use of public transport by the boys.
In addition, in a concrete response to the social difficulties related to Covid-19, the Esprinet Group decided to optimize the project For-Te by also using the delivery service to deliver necessities.
«The challenge was to increase the company's value through the creation of a true sustainable business, characterised by a strong social impact for all stakeholders involved.»
